This winter, the world competed in the 2018 winter Olympic games.  Did you know the Olympics originated in Greece?  Learn about the history of the Olympics.  

​Every two years, a new country has the honor of hosting this event.  It costs a lot of money to prepare for the event, and the country then relies on the tourism of people traveling for the olympics to bring more money into their economy.  Watch the commercial for the 2016 Olympics.  What do you notice?  You will create your own commercial enticing people to travel to GREECE for the original Olympic games.  Be sure to keep in mind the themes of geography.

WALT: design a sporting event modeled off of the ancient Greek Olympics.

There are many different sporting events to compete in at the Olympics games.  Some of today's events are the same as the original games, and some are different.  For this task, you can invent a new game or bring back an old game to include in the Olympics.  What are the rules for competing in this game and what special skills would the competitors need to succeed?
